Fellow Liquid Silver Books author Marianne Rice recently sat down for an interview with Mason Tucker from her latest release, False Hope.
Q. Tell us about yourself, please.
A. Um, okay. My name is Mason Tucker. I have an older half-brother and an identical twin. I don’t really like talking about myself.
Q. Anything else to add?
A. (Mason shakes his head.)
Q. Well, okay. So tell me, what is it that you want but cannot have?
A. I was actually pretty content with my life until Emma Fulton came around. She’s gorgeous and funny and outgoing. Emma sort of inserted her life in mine whether I wanted her to or not. She’s best friends with Cole, my twin, and I felt kinda…insecure around her. Still do at times.
Q. What can’t you do (but need to do) during this story?
A. Talk. I think about Emma. A lot. But I have trouble communicating. Of course I have my reasons, but I have a hard time telling her why. She interprets my silence as disinterest or anger. I wish I could express myself better.
Q. Emma sounds interesting. Tell me about her.
A. (Mason sighs.) Emma. I already said how beautiful she is, and I’m not one to repeat myself. I’ve been content with my life, working on servers and networks and computer programs. I’ve dated women, but never thought much about settling down or starting family until Emma fell into my life. Literally. There’s just something about Emma’s infectious laugh and spirited personality that sort of dragged me out of my shell. A little. She’s so strong and independent, despite the challenges and obstacles life keeps throwing at her. Never, ever does she give up. I admire her so much.
Q. What would Emma say about you?
A. You mean what does she say? She’s not one to mince words. She thinks I’m overprotective. But then again, someone is trying to hurt her. I’m a guy in lust. Okay, love. I need to protect my woman.
Q. What is your family like?
A. Always in your business. Always there to lend a hand. Always there for you. Annoyingly in your face when you want to be alone, but I’m blessed to have so many meddling members in my extended family.
Q. Are you happy (or not happy) with the way your story ended?
A. Hell yeah, I’m happy. I got the girl.
About False Hope
Emma Fulton never had to worry about much. Socially driven and happily single, she's been blessed with charm, good looks, and supportive friends and family. But after a medical emergency, a dollop of family drama, and a series of near-tragic events, she finds she must question who she can trust.
Mason Tucker prefers solitude to intimacy, but his large family makes it difficult to escape large gatherings and small talk.
